Esther Dyson about the different philosophies of Google and Yahoo:
Yahoo is “intelligent design”; Google is “blind evolution”.

When I read this, the first thing I associated with the term
intelligent design was the pretty nonsensical anti-evolutionary belief propagated by some so-called scientists trying to ban evolution science from classrooms. I personally would not like to have my company labelled like that.
But besides this, after reading the article I asked myself
If Esther was right, what would this mean to Yahoo and Google ?

Paul Graham has a nice essay about why it is wrong to simply “take from the rich and give to the poor”:
“decreasing economic inequality means
decreasing the risk people are willing to take”
Very insightful and really worth reading, especially in the light of the upcoming elections here in Germany, where the so called ‘Umverteilung’ is popular among emerging left wing parties.
I wish only a little of Graham’s way of thinking would find it’s way to Germany…
